Reasonable design and efficient operation of HVAC systems is the key link of energy saving in airport terminals. As the core equipment of the air conditioning cold source system, how to design the type, the number and capacity of chillers reasonably according to the cooling demand of the project is an important guarantee to realize its efficient operation under variable conditions in the cooling season. This paper takes the newly built hub airport terminal in hot summer and warm winter zone of China as an example, to carry out studies on the design and type-selection method of chillers, so as to provide suggestions for the optimization design of HVAC systems of other transportation hub buildings, and promote the energy saving and emission reduction.
